Default Gambling addiction?

It's scary to think how addicting gambling can be, but it is a huge problem. I just found this article.

http://news.777.com/2007-09/accounta...ling-addiction

Church Accountant Stole £70,000 to Fund Gambling Addiction

The article says he lost it online and only won back 10% of what he gambled.

And this is the kicker... he only got 16 months! WOW!

A gambling addiction can be something that would be super hard to break without professional help and guidance.

I agree.... I guess it's just like any addiction. Is it harder to "beat" though because it's socially acceptable to gamble? I am grateful that I can walk away. Of course we've all tested our luck once too often, but I've never bet more than I could handle.

I would not say that it is socially acceptable. Gambling is not exactly considered a "proper" hobby

If I ever become addicted to gambling I won't get any help, I will just waste my life away til I die. We have to enjoy our life so why not enjoy it by doing what it is that we want to do.

I think if you are going to wate your money over and over again, you might as well go to church and pay your ties.

Yes, gambling can be a huge addiction.
But they do not realize it until they are winning.

Want a nice and easy way to prevent it? Bring a "decent" amount of money to the casinos and a friend.

Yeah of course, You aren't going to want to leave and come back just to play more money. Don't bring everything you own to the casino.

But you know what sucks, I guess sometimes I have a minor form of the "addiction." I always tell myself "I can win this back!", but its usually with friends, so its nothing serious hopefully
