Tonk?

Hello
Here's hoping someone plays this game as I can find very little written about it from my searches. I hadn't even heard of it up until last month. Anyone here play it or has anyone even heard of it?

I think Tonk is a variation of rummy? I say maybe as I am sure there are a load of variations of how to play it. Probably better to ask someone who knows how to play it which variation they use to avoid any problems!

I have played a few different versions of Rummy but never heard of Tonk? perhaps it is a game associated with a certain country or region but I have asked a few folk around my place and they havent heard of it either

Isn't tonk the opposite version of spades? I haven't figured out how to play it exactly. But when I watch others play it, it looks fun.
